The goal of this "Icon Project" was to create an icon of something, that being a sailfish in my work, and represent it in different ways. To accomplish this task, you must identify what makes your object identifiable. What are the key aspects of what a swordfish is and does? The most important thing I found was the sail and the beak, both making up the most important aspects of this fishes body.

Going through each design, my thought process of the first was to limit how many lines I could use, or how simple of a shape I could make while still being able to distinguish my object. I then took these lines and made them slightly more creative to give a static image some life. My thought process remained the same for the majority of the icons, except for the top right, in which I took a more artistic route, and drew the animal outright.
The second portion of the project was to blend these icons I made with a word or words of my choice. These words were chosen for their relation to the animal, the typefaces were chosen because of their unique look, matching the distinct curves and shapes of the animal.

Finally, we made mockups of all the icons we made to see how they would fit into real world items as an image to represent an object.
